Reading the chartbook
Tap any chart to expand it. Each chart has its own labeled vertical scale. The numbers beneath the plot show its lower and upper bounds. Portfolio charts start at 100; stock prices are dividend- and split-adjusted. Daily periods share the same market calendar; economics retain their monthly or quarterly observations.
The dollar is the Fed’s broad trade-weighted index. Gold and copper use continuous futures, which can be affected by contract rolls; oil uses WTI spot. Economic data shows the latest revised history, not what was known at the time. Observation dates and FRED update times are separate in the expanded view.
Moving averages use 50 or 200 available observations, including history before the displayed window. Daily charts show the latest daily change and selected-period change. Economic changes compare the latest and previous observations. Short or delayed histories are labeled. Chartbook methodology →
